Coming Soon: Part I of the Martin R. Doring Collection of Turkish Revenues

This extraordinary collection was assembled over a period of more than fifty years. It is one of the most comprehensive ever formed. It consists of thousands of stamps mounted by category, primarily according to the William T. McDonald catalogue of revenues of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey. Categories run from administration of Justice Construction Projects through Expenditure Fees and Proportional Fees and up to the Turkish Aviation Society. Also included are revenues of outlying areas of the empire, such as the A.D.P.O. and A.D.P.O./Z.O. issues, Albania, Crete, Egyptian Expeditionary Forces, Tripolitania, etc.

Doring collection

Virtually every category includes, in addition to the listed stamps, numerous plate and perforation varieties, multiples and unusual cancellations. Many sections also include proofs, errors and unlisted stamps. With few exceptions, categories will be offered intact as single auction lots (a few will be broken down by issue) and each will be accompanied by Mr. Doring’s own inventory and his thoughts on the section.

Doring collection

The Doring collection represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire this difficult to find and increasingly popular material. Stay tuned for more information on this and other interesting items to be offered in our spring sale.
